“No extractions, no surgery, and Lauren ended up with a beautiful result…this is the gift of a lifetime.”

the damon™ system
is different

The Damon System is an advanced orthodontic treatment that uses less force than traditional braces. Because there are no elastic ties that need “tightening,” the teeth can move more quickly and freely, and treatment is typically faster and more comfortable than traditional braces.

are all braces the same?

Not at all! Orthodontic treatment has changed drastically the last several years, and there are more options than ever before.

Traditional braces offer many benefits, and in some cases, may be the best choice for your child. Their orthodontist will recommend the system that can best help them reach their goals.

The Damon™ System—an advanced approach to orthodontic treatment that uses less force—may also be recommended. The Damon™ System doesn’t require “tightening,” and does more than straighten their teeth—it helps enhance your entire face.

traditionalHigh force braces with
elastic ties

Traditional braces use elastics that “bind” archwires in place, and must be “tightened” at appointments. These elastics cause friction and pressure, which may make treatment slower and less comfortable.

Damon™ systemLight force “tie-less” braces

Damon “tie-less” braces don’t require elastics; instead, they use a unique sliding door that maintains the wire within the bracket, allowing teeth to move more freely, quickly, and with more comfort.

FAQ

Will my child experience discomfort in treatment?

No elastic ties, no “tightening”

Traditional braces use elastic ties that “bind” archwires in place and must be changed monthly (known as “tightening”). Damon™ uses tie-less braces with a unique sliding door to hold wires in place and do not require “tightening.” This allows the wires to move more freely, with less discomfort than traditional braces.1

Will my child have a
“mouth full of metal”?

Damon™ metal braces are extremely small and less noticeable than traditional metal braces.

For the ultimate aesthetic treatment, Damon™ Clear braces are virtually invisible, yet don’t present the limitations of clear aligners.

The Damon™ System is proven to be faster than traditional braces – up to 6 months in some cases.1 This means fewer office visits and the chance for your child to see your extraordinary results in less time. What’s more, most people see dramatic improvements within the first few months of treatment.

Create space naturally

The Damon™ System works in harmony with the body’s own adaptive abilities to create space and broaden arches naturally. Orthodontists can treat most cases without extractions, palatal expanders, or surgery with the Damon System.

However, for your child's unique smile and treatment goals, their orthodontist may recommend additional procedures to complement their Damon System treatment.

are results the same
for braces and aligners?

Great results for a lifetime

Aligners can be effective at treating mild to moderate tooth crowding, but according to clinical studies, do not treat as effectively as braces. Braces are also associated with fewer cases of relapse (teeth moving back to pre-treatment position) than aligners.1,2

Are braces difficult to clean?

Traditional braces use elastic ties to hold wires. These ties collect plaque, which is bad for your child's teeth and gums.1 The DamonTM System braces do not use elastic ties and are easy to keep clean with daily brushing and flossing.

There are no elastic ties to collect plaque with the Damon System

Easy-to-clean braces are ideal for kids and teens. Ask us about the Damon System for family members.

FAQ

Are clear aligners easier to
maintain than fixed braces?

Clear aligners must be worn a minimum of 20 – 22 hours per day—every day. Failure to do so will lengthen treatment time. Throughout the day, your child must remove aligners for eating and drinking. This makes it easy for aligners to get lost, costing you more in the long run with replacements.

when should my child
see an orthodontist?

It's time to see an orthodontist when you or your child are interested in improving the overall quality of their smile.

Here are some key differences between orthodontists and general dentists:

ORTHODONTISTS

Focus on health of teeth and smile as a whole

Specialize in creating optimal treatment plans that account for all of the variables of your child's mouth to give them the most beautiful smile

Experts in moving teeth and aligning jaws

Dedicate their professional lives to creating healthy, beautiful smiles for children, teens and adults

General dentists

Focus on health and hygiene of each individual tooth

Experts in preserving and restoring tooth health

Dedicate their professional lives to helping maintain the oral health of children, teens and adults

why should my child
see an orthodontist?

“All orthodontists are dentists first. Out of 100 dental school graduates, only six go on to become orthodontists. “

- from the American Association of Orthodontists

As you can see, orthodontists seek to achieve a great-looking smile, which is way more than straight teeth. Only an orthodontist is specially trained to help you or your child achieve a truly extraordinary smile.

You don’t need a referral from your child's dentist to visit an orthodontist.
